Construction Forum Tackles Climate Change And Immigration
SAINT JOHN – The Canadian Construction Associations’ National Construction Day was celebrated in Saint John on Tuesday, with the kick-off of a two-day industry forum happening in Saint John.
Members of the Architects’ Association of New Brunswick (AANB), Construction Association of New Brunswick (CANB), New Brunswick Department of Transportation and Infrastructure – Buildings Division (NBDTI), and the Association of Consulting Engineering Companies – NB (ACEC-NB), are gathering at the Saint John Trade and Convention Centre for the 2019 Industry Forum.
They will be joined by New Brunswick Premier Blaine Higgs, government officials, public and private sector owners, user groups, architects, engineers, construction industry professionals and suppliers.
“While we are always generally talking behind the scenes, we thought it was important to bring everyone together to discuss mutually important topics like climate change, adaptation and community readiness, as well as immigration and demographics in New Brunswick,” said Christy Cunningham, executive director of the Association of Consulting Engineering Companies in New Brunswick, in a news release.
“It’s important that our members are at the forefront of these topics as they design, plan and construct projects that impact the social, economic and environmental quality of life of all New Brunswickers.”
Over the two-day forum, various presentations, learning sessions, panel discussions and networking opportunities will be presented to more than 150 attendees.
They will participate in a Major Projects panel discussion, an Immigration and Demographics panel discussion, engage in presentations on Diversity and Talent Management, Innovation/Technology, Climate Change/Adaptation and Community Readiness, as well as Positive Work Environments/Mental Health and Workplace Sensitivity.
“We are bringing together some of the most talented and brightest minds in the country. Clients, the public-at-large and future generations expect our profession to create spaces and buildings that are innovative and respond to the demands of our ever-changing environment,” said Karen Chantler, executive director of the Architects’ Association of New Brunswick.
“This can only be done by coming together as the design and construction industry to learn about best practices, new sustainable design solutions and green technologies.”
Forum delegates will also network with more than 30 industry partners who will showcase their latest products and technologies.
