Moosehead Debuts Shipping Container Bar For Festivals and Events
SAINT JOHN – People around New Brunswick will be able to get their favourite Moosehead beer in a new way this summer – out of a shipping container.
The New Brunswick brewery recently unveiled their shipping container bar, that will make an appearance at various events across the province this summer and into the fall.
Elizabeth Harroun, assistant brand manager for Moosehead, said the idea for a portable bar came about after seeing how shipping containers can be used creatively at events like the Area 506 Festival in Saint John, which features an entire shipping container village.
“In the past few years, we’ve seen Area 506 and at a few other locations how different containers can be built into things, whether it’s pieces of art and things like that,” says Harroun. “With Moosehead Light, we’re involved in so many events and festivals on the east coast, so we wanted a new way to engage with our fans and be present in those major experiences and moments on the east coast, and obviously a way to serve our refreshing beers.”
Inside the container is a complete functioning bar that serves draft beer on tap. It’s also equipped to serve cans on ice. The bar will carry Moosehead Light, as well other Moosehead products, including some of their small batch craft beers.
“It depends on the event, but we’ll be able to do draft and packaged beers,” says Harroun
The bright blue shipping container bar made its debut in the Northern part of the province over the weekend at Festival Western de Saint-Quentin. This weekend, it will be at the Moonlight Bazaar in uptown Saint John.
“We’re booked almost every weekend this summer and into the fall. Some of the major Moose Light events like Area 506, the Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival in Fredericton are some of the big ones,” says Harroun. “But we’ll be traveling around New Brunswick through the summer to use this bar.”
Though the summertime is peak season for the bar, Moosehead is open to using it any time of year.
“We have lots of hockey partnerships where we can potentially leverage the container. We do outdoor events in the winter as well sometimes, so you never know where this bar will pop up.”
