Gray Stone Brewing Opening Brewery & Taphouse in Downtown Fredericton
FREDERICTON – Fredericton residents will have a new place to drink this Canada Day.
Gray Stone Brewing will open its first location at 221 King Street on July 1.
Gray Stone will be brewing small batches of hand crafted, west coast style ales. The new location will feature seating at the Taphouse as well as patio lounge areas. The location will offer Gray Stone products alongside more than 20 other New Brunswick craft beers.
“After three years of development and hard work, we are finally opening our doors and we couldn’t be more excited for the city of Fredericton to stop in and try a pint of Gray Stone,” said Wes Ward, Gray Stone’s owner and operator, in a release.
Ward and his close friend and work college Fergus Breen got the idea for Gray Stone during a hiking trip in 2005. The brewery got off the ground with help from other members of the local craft beer community. The company says this kind of collaboration is putting Fredericton on the map for craft brewing in Canada.
“We have been very fortunate to have some local breweries like Trailway, Maybee and Grimross step up and offer access to their systems. As a result, we will be able open Gray Stone earlier and the transition to our new equipment should be much less bumpy,” said Ian DeMerchant, a brewer at Gray Stone.
“The brewing community is very collaborative as opposed to competitive and they have been awesome to work with.”
