Son Trinh’s Business Secrets
FREDERICTON–Son Trinh, a training coach and learning and development manager originally from Vietnam, hopes to bring the techniques that help multinational companies run smoothly to small business owners in the Maritimes.
Trinh is working with The Hive in Fredericton to reach business owners and encourage them to implement personal development, training and time management techniques developed by Brian Tracy Global. It specializes in the training and development of individuals and organizations and counts over five million customers around the world.
Through his work with both local and multinational companies in Vietnam, Trinh noticed a pattern he sees in Maritimes businesses as well. He says smaller businesses are less willing to implement a system used across the world because they feel it doesn’t apply to them since they have fewer staff and fewer resources to manage.
Another quality he finds in Maritimes companies is an unwillingness to compete directly with similar companies. Trinh says he’s noticed that this hesitancy to be competitive is stopping local businesses from growing as much as they might otherwise.
As a franchisee for Brian Tracy, he brings the company’s methods for growth to businesses in the region that might not have otherwise considered it.
“I bought the franchise to provide the program, the training and coaching for people, individuals and corporations to improve themselves,” Trinh says. “People will improve themselves first and they will improve their attitude, knowledge and skills to achieve results.”
Trinh says the Brian Tracy methods help increase profits through the production of higher quality products and services and improvement of customer service. The methods also aim to decrease costs to businesses by helping operations run smoothly and effectively.
Trinh says the best way for individuals to improve their work productivity is to evaluate what they’ve done in the past, compare it to what they’re doing now and set specific goals for themselves to achieve.
“You are single and unique in the world so you know how to perform at your best,” Thrinh says. “Based on the past, look at your successes and failures … now how do we bring the positive belief and value to achieve the plan we have set? By the way we apply that new place, we can change our mind. We are stronger than before and we can achieve what we have set in our plan and perform at our best.”
Son Trinh moved to New Brunwick from Vietnam in the fall of 2014 after working for nearly 20 years there as a training coach and learning and development manager. He devoted his time to personal development and is also certified by Dale Carnegie training.
Trinh hopes to convince Maritime businesses to adopt improvement and efficiency methods. Because he believes in the Brian Tracy concepts and practices so strongly, he is now introducing samples of them for free to ten businesses in the area as case tests. He feels that if local business owners can see the methods in action, they’ll be eager to adopt them not only to improve their businesses but their personal interactions as well.
“I believe that when people talk about how we need to make society better … people will raise the question ‘why,’” Trinh says. “We can give them the answers by the way they can apply these techniques to improve their lives. When they apply, their relationships will be improved. The community, the society will be happier.”
