Is This The Creepy Future of Work?
SAINT JOHN – “We’re upgrading our workforce.”
It’s a term you might hear from a company trying to downplay the fact they are laying off workers to save money.
But a new video created by the Moth Collective for The Guardian, gives that phrase a new, creepy meaning.
Moshe Verdi, professor of computer science at Rice University says that machines could take over 50 per cent of jobs in the next 30 years.
“The Last Job on Earth” basically depicts how continuing down such a path could end. Are we heading toward a completely technological and automated world that’s not nearly as cool as The Jetsons told us it would be.
Though the idea of having the bathroom mirror read you the morning news seems pretty awesome, getting your medicine from a device that’s uncomfortably close to your office’s crappy vending machine is kind of petrifying.
Oh, and the fact the retirement home is marketed towards “over 30s”?
Yikes.
