Saint John Transit and Parking Commissions Name New CEO
SAINT JOHN – Saint John’s Transit and Parking Commissions has a new CEO.
After a long national search, Ian MacKinnon of Rothesay, N.B., has been hired as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) effective Feb. 1, 2016.
MacKinnon is described as being “a results-oriented business executive with a long record of directing successful business operations.”
“In this particular recruitment effort, we looked far and wide and found the best candidate right here in Greater Saint John,” said Donna Reardon, chairperson of the Transit and Parking Commissions. “We are pleased to announce that Mr. MacKinnon will bring his extensive operational management experience to the two commissions in a newly formed role.”
His most recent position was chief security officer at Saint John-based Cirrus9, an operator of multiple data centres, cloud infrastructure and related services. He was also an operations manager for J.D. Irving, Ltd. in Saint John; director of information technology for the Canadian Automobile Association Limited (CAA) in Saint John, and director of information technology at the City of Saint John between 2006 and 2010.
Day-to-day, the CEO will provide strategic and operational leadership to the SJTC and SJPC teams and be the primary spokesperson for both Commissions. The CEO will also determine human resource requirements such as recruiting and mentoring staff, as well as measuring performance. Mr. MacKinnon will be working closely with the board’s treasurer to develop a comprehensive budget, and will ensure alignment with the transportation goals of the City’s PlanSJ and MoveSJ initiatives to maintain and improve service quality.
