Halifax’s DHX Strikes Major Deal With DreamWorks
HALIFAX–Canadian entertainment producer DHX Media today announced a major deal with DreamWorks Animation. Under the five year agreement, the companies will co-produce 130 episodes of original animated children’s content at DHX Studios that will air on DHX Television’s channels, including Family Channel, Family Jr., Family CHRGD and Télémagino.
DHX will handle distribution of the content in Canada and DWA will distribute it to the rest of the world.
DHX Media has also licensed more than 1,000 half-hours of television programming from DreamWorks Animation, to be broadcast across DHX Television’s channels. That includes shows like All Hail King Julien, The Mr. Peabody & Sherman Show, Dragons: Race to the Edge, The Croods, and others.
DHX Media also reached an agreement with AwesomenessTV, which is majority owned by DWA, to license 300 half-hours of teen content for exclusive broadcast in Canada on Family Channel.

DreamWorks is a major studio, having produced hit children’s movies like Shrek, Madagascar, Kung Fu Panda, How to Train Your Dragon, and Monsters vs. Aliens.
