Uptown Saint John’s New Sparkle
SAINT JOHN – Uptown Saint John, the Business Improvement Association (BIA) that represents over 650 businesses in the city’s uptown, has teamed up with Saint John Energy for the Winter Lights Project.
The project will bring new and improved fancy Christmas lights to the city’s street poles. Work is already underway and focuses on the Uptown Saint John Peninsula.
Uptown Saint John executive director Nancy Tissington says the project will bring extra excitement around some of the BIA’s initiatives, particularly the 3rd Annual Uptown Sparkles event on Dec. 4.
“This will certainly assist businesses as we celebrate the winter season in particular the 3rd Annual Uptown Sparkles event hosted by the association and the members it represents,” said Tissington. “This event is all about showcasing our uptown and providing an atmosphere for our citizens to enjoy the uniqueness our retailers and restaurants offer all the while having a beauty walk in our Uptown.”
At the event, citizens will enjoy new winter lighting as they walk the streets of Saint John’s urban core. The evening of the event will feature carolers, horse-drawn trolley rides and enjoy shops and restaurants as they get ready for the holidays.
The new lights will be a reoccurring fixture in the uptown for winters to come.
Surely for many, it will make getting off work when it’s dark at 5:30 p.m. not so bad after all.
