Fredericton Hosting Crowdfunding 101
FREDERICTON – Ever wanted to start a crowdfunding campaign, but fear the only your parents will donate?
The Financial and Consumer Services Commission wants to help you with that.
Experts in crowdfunding will share stories on how they have successfully raised funds for their business at the public Fullsail event in Fredericton on Wednesday, Nov. 18.
“We are excited to have speakers and panelists from Fig.co, MASSMDG, Real Food Connections, Timber Cases and Oasis Farmery to discuss their experience with crowdfunding,” said Jeff Harriman, capital markets specialist with the commission. “They will be sharing best practices to help New Brunswickers who may be considering some form of crowdfunding to grow their business.”
The commission recently adopted rules to allow equity-based crowdfunding in New Brunswick. These rules provide start-ups and early-stage companies the ability to sell their shares and other eligible securities over the internet, subject to certain conditions, in order to raise capital for their business.
“We are bringing together experts with exposure to various types of crowdfunding to help educate New Brunswickers on their options,” said Harriman.
Want to attend? The free event takes place from from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Fredericton’s Crown Plaza Hotel. You can register online or by calling 506-643-7805.
