WANTED: CEO for Saint John Transit and Parking Commission
SAINT JOHN – The City of Saint John is on the hunt for a new CEO for the city’s Transit and Parking Commission.
The CEO provides strategic and operational leadership to staff in carrying out the mission of Saint John Transit and the Saint John Parking commissions.
“The CEO will enhance our team-oriented culture and be the primary spokesperson for both of the Commissions,” explains Donna Reardon, chair of the commission’s board. “We need a leader to build strong relationships and partnerships that leverage the strengths of our many stakeholder groups. He or she should be a top performer with a keen interest in internal and external transportation planning initiatives.”
Want this gig? Qualifications include a minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible and relevant experience in government or a large corporation as well as a university degree, preferably at the graduate level, in a related discipline.
The new CEO will build on the work of Richard Smith, the long-standing general manager of the Saint John Parking Commission who retired in September. He is currently serving in a part-time capacity to assist the transition. Frank McCarey will continue to be general manager of Saint John Transit, through an interim contract reporting to the new CEO.
“We are fortunate to have their exemplary records and decades of experience to support the transition to this new shared leadership model between the two organizations,” Reardon said.
“We are developing a road map for the organizational leadership of this next chapter in our story. The new CEO will further the synergies developed between the Saint John Parking Commission and the Saint John Transit Commission during recent decades.”
