New Design Details on Moncton’s Downtown Centre
MONCTON–The architects behind the Moncton Downtown Centre announced their plans for the $107 million project at a community meeting in Moncton last night.
Populus, the architecture firm behind Quebec City’s new Videotron Centre, the Las Vegas Arena and Pittsburgh’s CONSOL Energy Center, says the new facility will be able to accommodate major sports and concert events. The Centre will also feature an NHL-sized arena, an outdoor rink and a plaza for summer events.
The arena will have permanent seating for 7,500 people that can be expanded with an additional 2,000 non-fixed seats. It will also feature 15 luxury suites and 800 club seats.
Bird Construction, one of Canada’s largest general contractors with over $1.3 billion in revenue in 2014, is managing construction of the facility. The company has a branch office in Dieppe.
