Gallant Talking Business Out West
VANCOUVER – Premier Brian Gallant spoke with the Vancouver Board of Trade on Monday as part of his western tour.
During his speech, Gallant spoke talked about energy projects such as the potential conversion of the Canaport LNG terminal into an export facility and the construction of the Energy East pipeline that would bring oil to the refinery in Saint John.
“We know that our economic ties and relationships across the country are crucial to growing the economy and creating jobs. The two-way trade between British Columbia and New Brunswick is worth more than $1 billion per year and contributes significantly to our economy,” Gallant said.
“Our two provinces have a lot in common. British Columbia is looking to be an energy exporter to the world from Canada’s west coast while New Brunswick is positioning itself to play the same role on the east coast.”
Gallant said both provinces and the federal government understand the importance of investing in infrastructure.
“Strategic investments in infrastructure will create jobs in the short term and assist us in reaching new export markets stemming from trade agreements like the Trans-Pacific Partnership and the Canadian-European Union Trade Agreement,” said Gallant.
During his tour of western Canada, Gallant will be meeting with various businesses and premiers.
