NB Unemployment Rate Down In September
SAINT JOHN – Unemployment in New Brunswick was down in September according to the latest numbers from Statistics Canada.
New Brunswick unemployment was down to 8.8 per cent in September from 10.1 per cent in August. Nationally, the unemployment rate was 7.1 per cent in September, up one-tenth of a percentage point from August.
Statistics Canada also released seasonally adjusted, three-month moving average unemployment rates for major cities. Moncton’s unemployment rate was 6.9 per cent in September, down from 7.6 per cent in August. Saint John also saw a decrease with an unemployment rate of 8.5 per cent , down from 8.7 per cent in August.
Though these numbers are positive, Statistics Canada says these figures are based on small statistical samples and may fluctuate widely.
