Shopify Setting Up Shop in New Brunswick
OTTAWA–Canadian technology company Shopify (TSE: SH) is hiring more than 60 “Customer Support Gurus” in New Brunswick.
Merchants use Shopify’s software to set up and manage sales across online and physical sales channels.
“This is a work from home position helping our customers with anything they need to run a successful online and brick and mortar store. We are looking for people who are resourceful, creative, open minded and gets shit done,” said Shopify’s Andrew Hind.
Shopify provides all the hardware needed by Customer Support Gurus.
“Eventually we would like to establish hub cities so the New Brunswick Guru team can have in-person meet ups and be able to fully participate in Shopify’s culture,” said Hind. “We also have smaller remote teams set up to make sure no one feels cut off.”
Shopify has over 175,000 customers in about 150 countries, including Tesla Motors, Budweiser, Wikipedia, and the LA Lakers. The company has nearly 800 employees.
Hind would not confirm that Shopify was receiving financial support from the Government of New Brunswick, saying only that the company is “working closely with Contact NB and Opportunities NB.”
Shopify is one of the bright lights in the Canadian technology scene. It went public on the New York and Toronto stock exchanges earlier this year. This week it announced a major local delivery program with Uber and recently launched a “buy now” button for merchants on Twitter.
