Venn Innovation’s Jonathan Dunnett Is Finalist For North American Tech Award
SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA – Jonathan Dunnett, Venn Innovation‘s Program Manager of Markets and Insights, is a finalist for the Technology Councils of North America‘s (TECNA) first-ever innovation awards.
“It’s a really nice recognition of the work that we’ve been doing as an organization,” said Dunnett in an interview. “We get to do really meaningful work in New Brunswick with clients, so I think to have recognition of that is a nice testament and much appreciated.”
Dunnett is in the running for an award in the Major Impact on Tech Community category. Six other people from Kansas City’s KC Tech Council, Palm Beach Tech Association, Illinois Technology Association and Greater Nashville Technology Council are also in the running. He’s being recognized for his delivery of the Moncton-based tech organization’s growth programming.
Aside from hosting various events and being a hub for technology and innovation in Greater Moncton and New Brunswick, Venn works with early-stage startups through its Garage program. It also helps small-and-medium sized companies grow through various workshops and programming related to sales and competitive intelligence, among other things.
“This helps us get that recognition as we start to build that ecosystem in New Brunswick and Canada as a whole. While we are still early in [building] the ecosystem, we have the right components and the right tenants to build something very positive,” Dunnett said.
Aside from Venn, Communitech from Kitchener and WETech Alliance from Windsor, Ontario, are the other two Canadian tech associations with staff members included in the list of 21 finalists across five categories.
The awards program recognizes one or more tech council staff and team members who have been key to the development and implementation of innovative and impactful work on behalf of the tech association.
“The response to the call for nominations was extremely positive and served to affirm what we already knew – that we have exceptional people working across the TECNA network, delivering innovative, high impact programs and services for our member companies,” said Doug Robertson, the president and CEO of Venn who is also chairman of TECNA, in a release. “At the summer conference in Madison, we will celebrate all the nominees and finalists and announce the winners.”
The winners will be announced on July 25 at the TECNA Summer Conference in Madison, Wisconsin.
TECNA represents more than 50 technology associations across the U.S. and Canada.
