The Art Warehouse Is Now Open In Uptown Saint John
SAINT JOHN – A new cafe in uptown Saint John that gets patrons to channel their inner artist is now open.
After a soft launch last week, The Art Warehouse is now officially open to the public.
Located at 120 Prince William Street, the cafe is a licensed bar, cafe and drop-in art studio where people can have a drink and produce a painting. The pricing is based on the size of the canvas.
“The basis of the model is a drop-in art studio. You can come in when you want,” said owner Hazel Cochran in a previous interview with Huddle. “There are easels and paint supplies available. There is your canvas and paper and you just work away.”
Cochran got the idea to open an art cafe after visiting one on a trip to Central America with her family.
“We went to this little cafe and it was like any other cafe … but they also offered this unique art menu when you can pick what you wanted to work on and do that,” she said.
The Art Warehouse is open to artists all experience levels, and also to those who just want to have a drink and soak in the creative atmosphere.
“You don’t have to be an artist or have to come in here and paint, but to just be surrounded by it,” said Cochran.
