St. Louis Bar & Grill Opening Fredericton Location On January 20
FREDERICTON – Canadian sports bar franchise St. Louis Bar & Grill will be filling the vacant spot left by McGinnis Landing in downtown Fredericton, which closed in 2019.
The Fredericton location is set to open on January 20, just over a week before Super Bowl Sunday, says co-owner Jeff Beaumont.
“We’ll have a Super Bowl event but then football season’s done until next September. It’s unfortunate because of the delays in timing,” he said, explaining that construction delays pushed the opening plans from October 2019 to later this month.
But later down the line, “we’re hoping to really drum up Sunday football parties as well,” he said.
The Fredericton location spans more than 3,500 square feet, with space to seat 132 people inside.
“We will have an 80-seat patio that will open in May,” Beaumont says.
Keith Mackintosh, the franchise’s area development manager for New Brunswick who also owns the Moncton and Dieppe locations, says Fredericton is just one of the cities targeted by the brand.
“We’re looking at the entire New Brunswick market, including Bathurst, Saint John, Miramichi, Edmundston and Quispamsis,” he said.
Mackintosh said the expansion is happening because the Greater Moncton locations have been well-received.
“They’ve been solid businesses and they’ve done very well in maintaining a reputation in Southeast New Brunswick. And honestly, the brand fits New Brunswick perfectly,” he said.
St. Louis Bar & Grill first opened in Toronto in 1992 and now has more than 64 locations across Ontario and Atlantic Canada. The Fredericton location will be its third in New Brunswick.
It offers menu items like its signature wings and fries, tacos, burgers, poutine, ribs, and a kids menu, among other things. In Atlantic Canada, its fish and chips uses local haddock, and it offers specialty menu item Chris Brothers’ fried pepperoni.
With the Fredericton location set to open downtown, Mackintosh is expecting good results.
“It will certainly give an opportunity to be seen by a lot of people and take advantage of everything that Fredericton has to offer as far as downtown life,” Mackintosh said.
“We’re really excited about the Fredericton location and we’re excited about the opportunities that are presenting themselves in other corners in New Brunswick. We’re going to make sure to have seven or eight location here in New Brunswick within 18 to 24 months,” he added.
Four other locations are currently in the negotiation phase, but deals haven’t been signed yet, he said.
