Saint John Issues More Than $45-Million Worth of Construction Permits
The City of Saint John issued building permits for projects in the first quarter of the year with a combined construction value of $45,339,934 – a 365 percent jump over the previous year.
In total, the city issued 140 permits – the one with the lowest value was $400 for an interior renovation project, the largest was for a construction project worth $24,137,641 (guess which one that was).
More than 85 percent of the construction work (by dollar value) is being done in the city’s primary development area (PDA).
The city also reported on its dangerous and vacantĀ buildings program. Of 25 cases the city deemed closed, 17 buildings were repaired or re-occupied, and eight were demolished (two initiated by the city, six initiated by the owners).
