Saint John Energy Will Help Customers Who Struggle To Pay Bills
SAINT JOHN – Saint John Energy says it will work with customers who are having trouble paying their energy bills due to coronavirus.
The utility announced Friday that it will work with affected customers to find payment solutions.
“We always state that Saint John is our town. It’s our community as much as it’s our home, so we want to be sure that we’re protecting everybody in our community,” said Jessica DeLong, manager of stakeholder relations for Saint John Energy.
“This is is something that no one predicted, so we are really looking at our community and making sure that not only our staff is safe and able to pay their bills, but also our community.”
Saint John Energy will work with impacted customers on custom payment plans. Effective immediately, it is also waiving interest fees for past due balances until June 30. The utility will also not shut off anyone’s power due to non-payment until further notice.
Customers facing issues paying their energy bills are asked to contact Saint John Energy directly to discuss options.
“It’s a case-by-case basis and all our customer service reps are healthy and on the line,” says DeLong. “When they call, they’ll get someone, they’ll look up their account and they start to look at what we need to do.”
