Saint John Business Group Launches Letter Campaign Against ‘Ill Conceived Tax Grab’
SAINT JOHN – The CEO of the Saint John Region Chamber of Commerce is urging people to speak out if they think the government’s proposed federal tax changes for business owners is an “ill conceived tax grab.”
David Duplisea said they’ve heard negative comments about the government’s plan from members and non-members alike, so the Chamber is urging people to express that opposition in the form of letters to their Member of Parliament.
“We have heard loud and clear from our members, and from non-members as well, that this is an ill conceived tax grab. The unintended consequences of this policy could have devastating effects on small business, the medical community and other professionals,” said Duplisea in a release.

The Chamber believes the proposed changes could have significant impacts on New Brunswick businesses: potentially raising taxes, increasing the administrative burden on small and medium-sized enterprises and have a negative impact on family-run businesses.
To facilitate the sending of letters, the Chamber has added a link on their website that allows people to simply “point and click” to send a letter to their MPs.
