Port Saint John Events Serve Up The Best Food Uptown Saint John Has To Offer
SAINT JOHN – When you host an event at the Port Saint John cruise terminals, you’re getting the best of what it has to offer like great views of the harbour from spacious rooms and rooftop patios. You also get the best of the uptown food scene through partnerships with the city centre’s most popular restaurants.
Clients that book an event, such as a staff party, wedding or conference, can choose from a selection of premium, mouth-watering uptown culinary favorites, including Thandi, the Grannan Group, East Coast Bistro, and the Saint John Ale House as their event’s caterer.
“We have a great relationship with the Port,” said Holly Singh, co-owner of Thandi. “We feel honoured and very privileged to be one of their caterers; it is a lovely venue, with a capacity of housing over 500 people.”
Johnny High, Grannan Group’s Executive Chef, further confirms the positive experience working with the Port. “With the various sizes of rentals facilities at the Port, they provide a location that is not only easy to use, but attractive as well; this is all aided by new equipment, excellent support staff, and the ability to host top notch functions, with scenic views of the historic uptown area and the Saint John Harbour.”
“We actually had to postpone our wedding a year, and Port Saint John was very accommodating, moving everything without any fuss or muss,” says Brad Sheridan, who married his wife Kiersten at the Diamond Jubilee Terminal in August 2019.
“The Saint John Ale House was our caterer; we had a buffet style meal with turkey and roast beef dishes and vegetable sides,” recalled Sheridan.
“I had made a point to ask how the guests enjoyed the food and setup, and they all said great things about it.”
“We use fresh, local ingredients, many of which come from our chef’s green Axil Garden and we change the menu seasonally,” says Leti Mullin, Saint John Ale House’s Catering Manager, reflecting how people have become more conscious about eating food grown locally.
The Port makes it a priority to enhance the culinary experience at events hosted at the cruise terminals, offering a variety of fine-dining food choices from Indian delicacies to seafood.
East Coast Bistro, owned and operated by Kimberley Steele and Tim Muehlbauer, upholds this tradition of unique, customer-oriented cuisine as Port Saint John’s newest catering partner.
“We hope to bring our East Coast spin on traditional bistro-style food,” said Steele.
“The Port’s venues have amazing kitchen facilities, allowing us to prepare a high level of cuisine and facilitate plated meals,” added Steele. “That was a big part of signing on.”
