SAINT JOHN– Piece O’Cake, a custom cake and cupcake shop based in uptown Saint John, will be closing its doors next September.
Sherry Brown announced in a Facebook post Sunday morning that after “much thought and consideration” she would be closing the shop in September 2018.
“It was not easy coming to this decision as we have had a great ride,” the post read.
Brown says she’s decided to close the shop, which has been open since 2011, to spend more time with her children and to focus on her photography business. She will also still do custom cake orders occasionally and teach classes. She may also still attend craft fairs and local holiday markets.
“I have chosen to stay home with my kids, license a small kitchen for wedding cakes and carry out another passion of mine at Sweet Shots Photography,” the post read.
“I will also be doing cake classes to help all of you who want to create your own masterpieces, beginner, intermediate and advanced. There may even be video tutorials in the future.”
She concluded the post by thanking the community for their support of the business:
“I hope you all understand that I am so thankful to each and every one of you that have been there supporting us,” she said. “We have made many friends along this journey and we hope to keep you as our friend. We couldn’t have done it without you.”
