The games will be played Dec. 26, 2022 to Jan. 5, 2023 at the Avenir Centre in Moncton and at Scotiabank Centre in Halifax.
This will be the third financial year in a row where the airport will be losing millions of dollars, due to reduced customer demand caused by the pandemic. The airport recorded a net loss of $34.9 million in 2021, which is an improvement of a $40 million loss in 2020.
Premier Tim Houston said his government is making the change to protect Nova Scotia’s reputation as a welcoming province.
After his speech, Huddle asked Houston what his government has planned to pay off the province’s growing debt. The Premier said he has confidence and is “incredibly optimistic” about the future of Nova Scotia’s economy.
