New Moncton Hotel Gets ‘Dangerous’ Uniforms Thanks To Fredericton Entrepreneur
MONCTON- Staff at the new Canvas Moncton Hotel are wearing some ‘dangerous’ new threads thanks to a Fredericton entrepreneur.
Jeff Alpaugh Custom, the self-proclaimed makers of “the world’s most dangerous dress shirt,” has partnered with the recently-opened Hilton hotel to make its staff uniforms

The partnership came about during the summer when the general manager, Alain Baillargeon, reached out to Jeff Alpaugh Custom through their website. With the hotel being different from others in the city, he was looking to do something new and cool with the hotel’s uniforms too.
“I was very excited,” said Jeff Alpaugh, owner of Jeff Alpaugh Custom. “I thought it was a really cool way to break into the hospitality space.”
Jeff Alpaugh Custom will make new uniforms for the staff every six months.
“The idea is they will get new shirts every six months so they end up building a wardrobe. There will be a summer season and a fall season,” says Alpaugh.
The company has always offered individual customers one-on-one experience to create their custom dress shirts. Alpaugh says the partnership with Canvas is an opportunity to bring that experience to larger business clients.
“We’re going to get to bring in their entire staff and create new lines of shirts just for them every six months, which I think will be one of the more unique ‘B to B’ relationships between two New Brunswick companies,” says Alpaugh.
The second part of the partnership, the part Alpaugh is particularly excited about, is that each hotel has a pair of the company’s Dangerous Socks. Guests are able to take the socks home and the cost is added to their room charge
“It’s a business-centric traveler hotel. I think a lot of businesspeople will either not have packed a pair of socks, they’ll think the socks are cool, or they’ll be like ‘oh, I’ll get my husband or wife this as a gift,” says Alpaugh.
“I think it will be an easy and quick purchase for a lot of people and I think it will be a fun keepsake from New Brunswick for a lot of people.”
