New Brunswick Unemployment Rate Up In May
MONCTON – Unemployment in New Brunswick was up in May according to the latest numbers from Statistics Canada.
New Brunswick unemployment was up to 9.9 per cent in May from 9.6 per cent in April.
Statistics Canada also released seasonally adjusted, three-month moving average unemployment rates for major cities. In Moncton, unemployment went up to 7.4 in May from 7.2 per cent in April. However unemployment was down slightly in Saint John with a rate of 8.3 per cent in May and 8.4 per cent in April.
Nationally, the unemployment rate went down slightly to 6.9 in May from 7.1 per cent in April
Though these numbers are positive, Statistics Canada says these figures are based on small statistical samples and may fluctuate widely.
