Kevin Vickers Will Step Down As Liberal Leader
FREDERICTON – Liberal leader Kevin Vickers is stepping down after failing to win a seat in his own Miramichi riding, losing to Michelle Conroy of the People’s Alliance Party.
“This election has been very different from the ones we saw in the past,” said Vickers on Monday night after the results came in. “We were able to adapt quickly to these new realities. We stayed positive and ran the best campaign anybody could have ever expected or wanted.”
But during his speech, Vickers admitted that many people are disappointed by the results of the provincial election, and he takes full responsibility.
“As a result, I will be resigning as leader of the Liberal party of New Brunswick. Under the leadership of a new leader, I know that the Liberal Party will continue to be a strong voice for all New Brunswickers.”

Vickers says he is grateful to New Brunswickers for supporting him through the campaign.
“Thank you for everything you have done and for everything you will continue to do,” he said.
He is still hopeful the vision for the province he articulated in his campaign will be realized.
“There is still a lot of work to do in order to grow our economy, protect our environment and heal the divide between new Brunswickers,” he said. “I know by working together, we will bring back hope and opportunity for all New Brunswickers in every corner of this beautiful province.”
