Greater Moncton Task Force Launches Action Plan For Economic Recovery
MONCTON – The Southeast Economic Recovery Task Force, representing communities and organizations in the Greater Moncton and Sackville regions, published its five-phase action plan to guide efforts to rebuild and stabilize the region’s economy on Monday.
The plan includes a critical phase, two reactivation of services phases, a stabilization phase, and the new normal. The province is now in the second reactivation of the services phase, which aims to balance the reopening of businesses and activities while preventing a resurgence of Covid-19 cases.
“The pandemic has created a great deal of uncertainty for the business community,” said John Wishart, the CEO of the Chamber of Commerce of Greater Moncton, in a release. “We hope this action plan will provide a sense of collective effort and resolve to help smooth the way back for many business owners.”
The group’s initiatives under the action plan will include a project that focuses on the needs of the retail and service sector in the region, as well as the development of a weekly webinar series aimed at helping businesses.
“While there remain many unknowns about how and when our economy will recover, we collectively believe mapping out what we do know will help individual businesses and the region as a whole,” said Susy Campos, CEO of 3+ Corp.
The task force meets weekly, and is made up of the following lead agencies: 3+ Corporation, the Chamber of Commerce for Greater Moncton, WorkingNB, Opportunities New Brunswick, Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, City of Moncton, City of Dieppe, Expansion Dieppe, Town of Riverview, Town of Sackville, Downtown Moncton Centre-ville Inc. and the United Way of Greater Moncton and Southeastern New Brunswick.
