The Grand Innovation Challenge is a prestigious competition that recognizes companies creating disruptive technologies that leverage the fast-growing “Internet of Things” (IoT). Last month the company announced it was in the top six companies who would go to Dubai to pitch for the top spot. Eigen was the only remaining Canadian company in the competition.
The Challenge began in June with more than 3000 entries from over 100 countries. Through a series of elimination rounds, Cisco reduced the list to a top 15 in early October, and then a top 6 in November, when the company earned its slot in the Dec. 7 finals.
Grand Innovation Challenge organizer Alex Goryachev set the scene, saying that the final six were tasked with “…delivering Shark Tank-like pitches and demos before a live audience and finalist judges – themselves a “who’s who” of IoT industry leadership.”
At the end of it all, those six would be cut down to three final winners, with Eigen Innovations taking one of the winning spots.
Their Third Place finish earns the company $25,000, along with “VIP access to industry, investment and business experts, including Cisco’s global Innovation Centers and Cisco investments team for potential business acceleration and joint go-to-market strategies,” said Goryachev.
