Casino Nova Scotia To Reopen Sydney And Halifax Locations
HALIFAX — Casino Nova Scotia locations in both Halifax and Sydney will reopen on October 5. Both have been closed since March 16 when they were forced to shut their doors by provincial health regulations meant to slow the spread of Covid-19.
The Great Canadian Gaming Corporation, which operates the two casinos on a contract from the Nova Scotia Gaming Corporation, says the casinos will be following a “rigorous and detailed health and safety protocol” when they reopen.
Both will operate at about one-third of their usual capacity, slot machine availability will also be reduced by about 40 percent, and “most amenities” will remain closed.
The Great Canadian Gaming Corporation operates 25 casinos across Canada. On September 28, it will also open 12 locations in New Brunswick and Ontario, under similar health guidelines.

According to the NSGU, Casino Nova Scotia employs 420 people. Prior to Covid-19, the organization had planned to give $147-million of its profits back to the province.
