Sharp Drop In Unemployment Rate for N.B.’s Main Cities
Unemployment in New Brunswick was down last month, according to the latest numbers from Statistics Canada.
New Brunswick unemployment went down to 8.4 per cent in May from 8.7 per cent in April..
Statistics Canada also released seasonally adjusted, three-month moving average unemployment rates for major cities. In Moncton, unemployment went down to 6.1 per cent in May from 6.9 per cent in April. Unemployment also went down in Saint John from 6.2 per cent in April to 5.6 per cent in May.
Nationally, the unemployment rate was 6.6 per cent in May, up slightly from 6.5 per cent in April/ .
Statistics Canada says these figures are based on small statistical samples and may fluctuate widely.
