PRUDE Inc. Helps Newcomer Employees Connect with the Community and Thrive in the Workplace
PRUDE Inc. is dedicated to providing a wide array of services to newcomers who are seeking to settle and integrate into mainstream life in the Greater Saint John area. The organization works closely with community and government service providers, ensuring collaboration and synergy to avoid redundancy and leverage collective strengths.
The visible aspects of the settlement process for newcomers involve numerous technical steps. PRUDE Inc. offers support to its clients through training, advisory services, referrals, and mentorship. One way it achieves this is by bringing in relevant experts as guest speakers to address its clients on topics that are related to their fields of expertise.
The organization’s primary focus, however, lies in assisting clients with the intangible aspects of their settlement journey by helping them build authentic connections with Indigenous Peoples and individuals from other cultural communities, grasp the nuances of everyday life in the region, explore their own identities, uncover new talents and passions, and resume their life journeys that may have been interrupted by immigration. Additionally, it supports those who may desire to forge completely new and different paths upon their arrival here.
PRUDE Inc.’s approach revolves around creating opportunities for newcomers to establish genuine connections with fellow newcomers and members of the broader community. It brings together people from diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds, various age groups, and varying English-language proficiency levels.
This intentional mixing nurtures a diverse web of connections, counteracting the natural tendency to solely associate with individuals from one’s own background. Furthermore, the organization introduces newcomers to supportive individuals who not only share their expertise but also become connections themselves, thus facilitating access to their own networks and fostering personal and professional growth.
To meet the needs of its diverse clients, PRUDE Inc. offers a wide range of activities through its three newcomer programs: Young Adults Program, Newcomer Women Leadership Program, and Come Together the Canadian Way Program. These include informal conversation practice sessions, volunteering and other community engagement opportunities, and leadership training tailored for people of all gender identities. It delivers its programs to groups and individuals, both in-person and virtually, with flexible scheduling to accommodate the varied work and family commitments of its clients.
