CEO of Canadian Chamber of Commerce Perrin Beatty to Speak in Saint John in May
SAINT JOHN – Perrin Beatty, CEO of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, will be paying a visit to the Port City in May.
Beatty will be the guest speaker at the Saint John Region Chamber of Commerce’s Chamber’s 150th Celebratory Dinner. The event is in conjunction with the Chamber’s 198th Annual General Meeting where the organization will honour three companies started in Saint John in 1867: G.E. Barbour Inc., Moosehead Breweries and Source Atlantic.
Beatty will speak on the extensive business history in Saint John and the role Saint John Chamber played in confederation itself in Canada’s first incorporated city. He will also talk about how the honorees contribute to both the regional and national business economy.
“We are excited to be celebrating Barbour’s 150 years in business and we are so pleased to be recognizing our Saint John roots. In this competitive world, Maritimers’ passion for King Cole and Barbour’s brands continues. We strive to leverage our reputation for food quality and customer service, all the while expanding our international reach,” said Sylvia MacVey, G. E. Barbour Inc. CEO in a release.
“Throughout G. E. Barbour’s evolution, from importer and wholesaler to world class food processor, we have been supported by our employees, our customers and the business community here in Saint John. We are truly proud to be part of this community.”
The chamber’s 198th Annual General Meeting will take place on the afternoon of May 18 and will culminate with a reception and gala dinner to be held at the Marco Polo Cruise Ship Terminal honouring the 150-year-old companies.
“It is a real testament to the resilience and vision of these companies that we celebrate their 150th anniversary and recognize their longstanding commitment to our region,” said David Duplisea, CEO of the Saint John Region Chamber of Commerce.
