Craft Alcohol Producers Band Together to Offer a Taste of New Brunswick
FREDERICTON–Craft alcohol producers from across the province are coming together this weekend to serve local beer, wine, mead and spirits lovers a taste of an industry that’s growing fast in New Brunswick.
Hosted by The Capital Complex and the New Brunswick Craft Alcohol Producers Association, 2016’s Tasting NB will be the second year of the event that turns The Capital Complex patios and surrounding space into a multi-level beer garden experience.
Zach Atkinson, part of the Tasting NB organizing team and manager of The Capital Complex, says that with the success of last year’s event, they hope this year’s will be just as big a hit. He explains that the event came together at a convenient time with Picaroons’ Brewer’s Bash coming to an end.
“We’d heard they’d run into some hurdles and they weren’t going to be presenting a summer event that year so we thought this would be something to offer similar to it at that time of year,” Atkinson says. “It’s hard to replace something like that because it was such a big, cool event.”
Atkinson says events like these will become more and more popular as craft alcohol production spreads across the province. He says with Tasting NB that they’re building a base before they decide to try anything drastically different from what it’s been so far.
“We just really like the model and we wanted to go into a second year before we make any drastic changes. We just wanted to recreate what we had such a great time working with last year,” he says.
Tasting NB will take place Saturday July 9. Tickets are available for purchase online or at the etixnow kiosk at Isaac’s Way.
“It’s been an amazing year for craft alcohol producers of NB, some seeing international recognition,” said The Capital Complex and Gray Stone Brewing owner Wes Ward. “We want to help further showcase these great products at home for everyone to enjoy.”
