A grand Grand-Barachois-based farm has opened a Moncton produce shop in the former home of the now-defunct Tomavo chain. Allan Hardy was one of several farmers allegedly not paid by Tomavo.
An Atlantic Canadian produce retailer that styled itself an affordable alternative to larger chains has closed its doors in Moncton and Halifax.
Alex Olmstead, a former Tomavo employee, never received complete payment for the work he did for the grocery chain. He says he’s not surprised by Tomavo recently declared bankruptcy.
The new Tomavo store in Woodside is located in a former gift shop. The grocery store now occupies 12,000 of the 16,000 square feet at that location.
Tomavo got its start in 2017 when it opened its first location in Moncton. Today, the company has locations in Shediac, Bedford, and now Bayers Lake.
Frederic Laforge is partnering with grocery store Tomavo to deliver fruit boxes to businesses in the Moncton region.
