Rogers Call Centre Expands In Moncton With 215 New Jobs
MONCTON – Rogers Communications Inc. is hiring 215 people this year as its call centre in Moncton expands. This will increase its headcount in the Greater Moncton region to more than 1,000 people.
Jessica Gallant, site director at the Moncton call centre, said the jobs will be for various full-time positions, with bilingual and unilingual agents needed.
“The first would be our frontline customer care agents, so these are agents that help customers with billing or if they want to change or add products,” she said. “We also have technical support roles for wireless, home phone, Internet and all of those things.”
Gallant, who started her career at Rogers as a retail agent nearly 20 years ago and then moved to become a voice agent later, said call centre work wasn’t just a job for her.
“Rogers taught me how to grow up. I started when I was 19-years-old. I knew nothing. And through this, I learned a lot of business acumen, a lot about telecommunications, and I was able to try out a lot of different things.”
Eric Agius, senior VP of customer care at the communications and media firm, said the expansion in Moncton is a natural step for the company, which didn’t receive government support for the move.
The Moncton centre handles nearly two million interactions from customers across Canada. It’s one of 12 Rogers call centres in the country and is a key location for Atlantic Canada.
“We have an amazing group of agents here in Moncton already, so there’s a tremendous talent community within Moncton that we have tapped into and will continue to tap into,” Agius said.
“Our company’s number one priority is to create a best in class customer experience. So we want to continue to build our teams and strengthen our teams to do that. And the other thing is, we want to continue to strengthen the team as we develop our teams to support products like Ignite TV, which we’re going to launch here in 2019.”
Hiring is almost half-way completed, with some new employees already working at the contact centre. However, the company won’t expand the facility at 100 Westmorland St.
“This site can accommodate our growth,” Agius said.
Agius didn’t share specifics about the salary range for the new positions, but he said Rogers provides a “very competitive total rewards package and benefits program” that takes effect from day one.
Federal Health Minister Ginette Petitpas Taylor, who is also MP for Moncton-Riverview-Dieppe, said the bilingual workforce of New Brunswick is attractive to companies like Rogers.
“I’m very proud of our bilingual workforce and our talented workforce that we have within the province of New Brunswick, and I’m sure that’s probably another key reason why Moncton has been chosen,” she said.
“Rogers is absolutely a very valuable business and a very valuable employer here in New Brunswick and of course in Moncton,” said provincial Finance Minister Cathy Rogers.
She also pointed out the volunteerism of Rogers employees.
“I know corporately you do a lot and I know individually, with the team you have here, we see you out and about and we see you participating and giving, and it’s very much appreciated,” she said, during the announcement.
Rogers has been present in Greater Moncton for 15 years through its call centre, Rogers TV, and various retail locations. It has 26,000 employees across Canada.
