NB Entrepreneur Honoured for B Corp Work
SAINT JOHN – A New Brunswick entrepreneur is being honored for her work in growing the B Corp movement.
Lisa Hrabluk, of Wicked Ideas Media, received B Lab’s “B Keeper Award” at the organization’s annual retreat in Portland, Oregon.
The award is given to the B Lab member who has most actively built community and fostered collaboration in the B Corp movement.
“It was a complete surprise. I was talking to my table mate at dinner and then noticed my face on the big screen. Took me a moment to process what was happening,” said Hrabluk.
“It is a really delightful surprise and I am coming back home with a renewed drive to live what I believe–that business can be a force for good and help lead fundamental social and economic change.”
B Corps are certified by the nonprofit B Lab to meet standards of social and environmental performance, accountability and transparency. It’s now a growing community of more than 1,000 Certified B Corps from 33 countries and over 60 industries working together toward one unifying goal: to redefine success in business. Hrabluk’s Wicked Ideas is a media company focused on facilitating solutions and discussions for public issues.
“Call it what you want–social enterprise, mission-driven business or conscious capitalism–the point is there is a growing movement to do business differently and Atlantic Canada, with its close knit networks, is a perfect place to do it,” Hrabluk said.
