LISTEN: Nicole Leblanc Talks About Getting More Women Into Finance and IT
Nicole Leblanc may live in Toronto now, but she’s still a proud Maritimer.
She’s also a champion of giving women a chance to succeed in traditionally male fields like IT and finance.
LeBlanc joined BDC Capital in 2014 as Associate Director, Strategic Investments and Partnerships. She actively manages the BDC convertible note program and associated investment portfolio.
Before joining BDC Capital, Leblanc was Director of Finance for New Brunswick Innovation Foundation (NBIF) where she played a central role in their investment activities, negotiations and business development, and oversaw their internal and external reporting.
In this episode of Boiling Point, Dave Veale and Greg Hemmings talk to Leblanc about how we encourage more girls to think about and prepare for future careers in IT and finance.
She also talks about how Atlantic Canadian entrepreneurs are very good at organizing and starting up businesses, but they can sometimes lack capital and economic movement. She shares her vision to see that change and to increase the entrepreneurial mindset in New Brunswick and in Atlantic Canada.
