Ignite Fredericton Launches Export Accelerator
SAINT JOHN – Ignite Fredericton has launched Atlantic Canada’s first export accelerator.
Export Igniter is designed to help export ready companies find opportunities, navigate the international business world, and help jumpstart their export sales. The program is a result of a year of consultation and planning and is being executed in collaboration with University of New Brunswick, Fredericton Chamber of Commerce, Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters and OpportunitiesNB.
“We’re very proud to begin accepting applications for this ground-breaking program,” said Adam Peabody, investment attraction & growth specialist with Ignite Fredericton, in a release. “Current global conditions are opening up new opportunities for NB exporters worldwide from the low dollar, to the 15 signed Canada free-trade agreements, to rising global demand. There’s no better time to begin exploring your export potential.”
Export Igniter will start January 2017, and run as a 12-week program enabling export-ready companies to develop their export strategy to expand to new markets. Companies will participate in bootcamps led by subject matter experts such as Canada’s Trade Commissioner Service, Export Development Canada, and Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters. They will also be paired with a successful local exporter, who will provide ongoing mentorship, and with a team of highly motivated undergraduate students through a partnership with the University of New Brunswick’s Faculty of Business.
Applications to the program are due Oct. 31.
