Gallant Meets with Trudeau and Premiers
OTTAWA – The economy was the hot topic of a meeting between Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and the premiers in Ottawa this week.
“The federal government clearly shares our priority of economic growth,” said Gallant. “We look forward to working with Prime Minister Trudeau and his government to advance job creation and economic development. This is an exciting time for our country where we have an opportunity to see unprecedented levels of co-operation as we work towards getting the economy on the right track for all Canadians.”
Trudeau and the premiers also discussed climate change. Gallant said he looks forward to working with the federal government, provinces and territories, in developing a cohesive message about Canadian climate policy in advance of the COP21 Conference in Paris. There were also talks about the arrival of Syrian refugees coming to Canada, 1,500 of which will be coming to New Brunswick.
“Welcoming these refugees into our country and into our province is the necessary and right thing to do,” Gallant said. “We hope that those who arrive in New Brunswick will end up choosing to stay with us, growing our population and contributing to our communities and our economy.”
