Six New Brunswick Organizations to Receive Funding from Medavie Health Foundation
Six New Brunswick organizations are receiving funding from the Medavie Health Foundation for community-based initiatives focused on child and youth mental health.
The Medavie Health Foundation’s Grants Program, which supports programs aligned with child and youth mental health, is providing over $100k in funding to deliver the less traditional healthcare.
“Through our grants program, we fund programs making a real difference to Canadians on an individual and community level,” Medavie Health Foundation executive director Patty Faith said in a release. “These organizations are providing unique and innovative programs and services in supporting New Brunswick children, youth and their families impacted by mental health and illness.”
“It’s healthcare that looks a little different for it doesn’t start in a doctor’s office, but in our classrooms and community centres and on our playgrounds. It’s the kind of healthcare we’re proud to support.”
The grant amounts and organizations receiving them are as follows:
- The Atlantic Wellness Community Centre will use a $40,000 grant to support a counselling program servicing at-risk youth in southeastern New Brunswick.
- The Boys and Girls Club of Moncton will receive a $15,000 grant to fund a visual arts project to provide youth with a creative outlet.
- The Canadian Mental Health Association of New Brunswick will receive $15,000 for a bilingual evidence-based program that uses cognitive behavioural therapy.
- The YMCA of Greater Saint John will use a $5,000 grant to provide peer-support for children and youth dealing with death, divorce or other life-altering crises.
- The Atlantic Ballet Theatre of Canada will receive $20,000 to fund a program that engages young people to build healthy relationships and positive self-image.
- Roots of Empathy will use a $10,000 grant to support their program focused on developing empathy in children and reducing aggressive behaviour.
