Business Organization Offers Discounted ‘Uptown Dollars’ to Boost Spending in City Centre
SAINT JOHN – New Brunswickers head south of the border to shop when the dollar is valued high enough to get good deals. Uptown Saint John is creating a similar incentive to get people spending more money in the city centre.
For today only, local shoppers can buy discounted “Uptown Dollars” for use at participating city centre restaurants and shops.
The “Uptown Dollars” will be like a gift certificate that will be issued year-round, beginning March 23.
“Have you ever wanted to give a friend or colleague a ‘gift card’ for uptown? Well, now you can… with ‘Uptown Dollars,’ which can be purchased and used like cash at participating uptown businesses,” says a blog post on Uptown Saint John’s website.
As an introduction to the new program, the “Uptown Dollars” will be available Friday at a 20 per cent discount at the Uptown Saint John office at 17 Canterbury Street.
The sale will take place between 10 am and 2 pm or until the organization has sold $25,000 of discounted “Uptown Dollars.”
The minimum purchase is $100 (in Uptown Dollars).
