Build Ventures Leads $1.5 Million Seed Funding Round for Halifax-Based The Money Finder
HALIFAX – Atlantic Canadian venture capital firm Build Ventures has led a $1.5 million seed funding round for a Nova Scotia financial services company.
The Money Finder specializes in Cash Flow Planning training for financial professionals. Innovacorp also contributed to the company’s seed round.
Halifax-based The Money Finder was founded by Stephanie Holmes-Winton, a veteran financial advisor. The company’s Certified Cash Flow Specialist designation includes specialized software that allows financial professionals to generate written standardized cash flow plans. The Money Finder’s approach blends technology and an understanding of human behaviour to help financial professionals give clients advice they will follow and keep up for life.
“Stephanie and her team at The Money Finder have built a very strong business. Their product is used by hundreds of financial professionals across North America, and they have already hit a significant recurring revenue milestone,” said Rob Barbara, a managing partner at Build Ventures, who will now join the company’s board, in a release. “We are confident they can continue to grow and expand their market.”
The company currently has 16 full-time employees and works with clients in Canada and the United States.
“Our team has bootstrapped everything to this point. We’ve built a product that the market wants and people need,” said Stephanie Holmes-Winton in a release. “With this seed funding, we can add more technical resources to our team to take the product to the next level for enterprise scale clients.”
