Corey Breau, president of the Saint John Real Estate Board, said he didn’t think the city would break last year’s record, and he certainly didn’t think the reocrd would break by as much as it did.
The average price of homes sold in September hit an all-time high of $273,313. The dollar value of all homes sold last month was $75.4-million.
But compared to the long-term average, sales were nearly 12 percent above the five-year average and 30 percent above the 10-year average for August.
The Saint John Real Estate Board says 325 homes were sold last month — the most of any month in history.
