After a long year working with shareholders, Terri MacDonald Riedle is ready to bring cannabis publication Civilized to a wider audience through its relaunch as a lifestyle brand.
It is the second deal in recent months involving companies operated by entrepreneurs Derek and Terri Riedle. Late last year, U.S.-based New Frontier Data acquired Civilized, a cannabis media company based in Saint John and California.
New Frontier founder and CEO to Giadha Aguirre de Carcer said in a media statement on Thursday that it’s ‘too soon to say’ if Civilized will have operations in Saint John.
The U.S. based announced that it will be stopping Civilized operations and laying off all its staff while it addresses “areas of improvement.”
Founded in 2015, Civilized aims to engage a global audience of cannabis consumers through a web site, videos and events, hosting the popular Moonlight Bazaar and World Cannabis Congress in the Port City.
Ken Weisbrod tells Saint John conference his company has signed a deal with TruTrace Technologies for a pilot program to provide the software to track medical cannabis from seed to final product.
The World Cannabis Congress will host 450 industry leaders beginning Sunday.
Ontario-based Canopy Rivers says it will work with Civilized on various online, media and event opportunities relating to the cannabis industry.
