Saint John to Host the 2018 Canada 55+ Games
SAINT JOHN – Saint John is playing host to the 2018 Canada 55+ Games.
The games are expected to bring over 1500 delegates and have an economic impact of approximately $3 million. The games will take place August 21 to 24, 2018 at venues throughout the city and Quispamsis.
“Winning the bid to host the 2018 games is a testament to the hard work of our committee, the support of Discover Saint John and the excellent venues and experiences offered in the Greater Saint John area,” says local host committee co-chair Barb Curry. “We’re ready to put on fantastic games and know the participants, families and volunteers will have lasting memories from their time in the city.”
The Saint John bid was presented to the board of directors of the Canada 55+ Games in August.
“We could just see the enthusiasm, interest and excitement by this group of people. They wanted these games,” says Bob MacLeod, president of the Canada 55+ Games. “They presented the city in a way that made us all want to visit. We are absolutely convinced our 2018 games will prove to be one of our best ever. Thank you, Saint John, for having us.”
