Bringing the Pristine Life Seaside
SAINT JOHN– An independent Saint John men’s boutique will be making its debut in St. Andrews this summer.
Pristine, located on King Street in uptown Saint John, will be opening a temporary pop-up store on Water Street in Saint Andrews early next week and closing it the end of September.
“It’s a nice tourist area,” says owner Harrison Teed.” I ventured down a few times and notice that there wasn’s much there for guy’s clothing so we took the opportunity to take advantage of that.”
Teed says the pop-up store will be a little more low-key than the urban, rustic flagship store in Saint John. Though it will feature Pristine’s own clothing line, it will also sell products from Levi’s, Scotch & Soda and Brixton.
“[It’s] a little less fashion-forward. I’ll say a little bit less distressed clothing and some [more] regular stuff. Although, we’ve extended our Pristine line so we’re looking to sell quite a bit of that there as well,” says Teed. “But for the most part, it will be similar, just a little more everyday and a little less Gucci-feel.”

Since there are not many options for men’s clothing in the seaside town, Teed says they are looking to attract a broader demographic with the pop-up shop.
“There’s nothing really there for men’s clothing too much, so we’re really trying to grab that market,” he says. “But target demographic is going to be your 16-year-old to your 50 to 60-year old. There is going to be a pretty wide spread of product in there to attract a very broad demographic of individuals.”
If this summer’s pop-up is a success, Teed says he may experiment with bringing it to other cities in the province.
“Basically test the market in different places without going all in,” he says.
