Pomodori Reopens Saint John Location After October Fire
SAINT JOHN – Pomodori Pizzeria is reopening the doors of its uptown Saint John location Tuesday, says co-owner Janice Macpherson.
“There is still some work to do and equipment to get in, but [we] look forward to opening our doors to the public again,” MacPherson told Huddle via email.
She said the pizzeria’s full menu is available, except for their gelato, as they are waiting on a new case to come in.
The restaurant, which also has a location in Rothesay, opened uptown back in July. But a fire in early October, believed to have started from the pizza prep cooler, forced the restaurant to close down for repairs. Thanks to the sprinkler system, most of the damage was contained to the front of the restaurant. However, the water damaged most of the other equipment.
Pomodori specializes in fresh, quick-service Neapolitan pizza. Its first location in Rothesay opened back in 2008. MacPherson said they celebrated their re-opening with a private event on Monday evening.
“It was awesome to be able to serve up our pizzas again. The staff all came back and are super excited to be here. Our manager commented that it is like we were never closed, everything looks just right,” she said.
“We are sad we missed so much activity uptown these last two months but we are ready and super pumped to turn over that Open sign today!”
