Planet Hatch partners with the DMZ at Ryerson University
FREDERICTON–Fredericton-based business accelerator Planet Hatch is teaming up with the DMZ, A leading tech incubator at Ryerson University in a new partnership aimed to support startups across Canada.
The partnership between Planet Hatch and the DMZ (formerly known as the Digital Media Zone) will allow members from both communities to access soft landing opportunities in each other’s provinces while accessing expertise and resources. Through its partnership with the University of New Brunswick’s (UNB) International Business and Entrepreneurship Centre (IBEC), Planet Hatch will be able to use this partnership to help students connect to more resources and educational opportunities across Canada.
“Having a partnership with the DMZ at Ryerson University will be a great aid to Fredericton’s startup community and UNB students,” said Karen Murdock, chief program officer at Planet Hatch in a news release. “Creating new and innovative opportunities for our clients is always in the forefront of our minds, and this agreement will open a lot of doors for our startups.”
This partnership comes on the heels of Planet Hatch’s 2016 soft landing zone partnership with Walnut Accelerator in Chengdu, China, and Fredericton’s recent recognition as the ‘Startup Community of Canada’ by Startup Canada.
“Our partnership with Planet Hatch will provide startups with the opportunity to leverage resources across the country while building a successful company in their home base,” said Abdullah Snobar, executive director of the DMZ. “We expect this to be the first of a much larger initiative that will connect the DMZ network with emerging startup communities to build connections that will foster best-in-class Canadian entrepreneurs.”
