New Brunswick’s Unemployment Rate Drops To 8.1 Percent

The unemployment rate fell in New Brunswick from 8.3 per cent in September to 8.1 per cent in October, and the province gained nearly 900 full-time jobs, according the Statistics Canada Labour Force Survey released Friday.
The province lost 1,200 job overall, though, because the economy shed 2,200 part-time positions.
The year-over-year number is more encouraging, with a gain of 1,700 jobs from October 2018 to now.
Moncton lost 700 full- and part-time jobs from September to October and saw its unemployment rate jump from 5.5
5.8 percent.
Saint John lost 200 jobs but saw its unemployment rate fall from 7.9 to 7.7 percent. Its overall labour force dropped from 71,300 to 71,000.
