N.B. and N.S. Businesses Among Winners Of Deloitte’s Best Managed Companies Award
TORONTO – Deloitte has announced the winners of its 2020 Canada’s Best Managed Companies awards program, which includes Dieppe-based Acadian Construction and Truro-based Inland Group of Companies.
The award recognizes excellence in privately-owned companies generating revenues of more than $25 million. Twenty-six companies were named the 2020 winners.
Deloitte said this year’s winners credited their success to investment in talent, technology, innovation in a competitive environment, and intent to compete on the global stage.
The winners are also highly focused on defining and implementing organization purpose through all levels of business.
“Defining purpose is not just a goal of large organizations, it is increasingly valuable in the evolving workforce – it’s equally important to employees and customers,” said Kari Lockhart, national co-leader of the Canada’s Best Managed Companies program and partner of Deloitte Private, in a release.
Doing so fosters “healthier workplaces, closer communities, and stronger foundations to help guide successful, collaborative decision-making,” she said.
Lockhart added the companies’ clear and concise strategies for customer service also put them above their peers.
In addition, the winners are also highlighted for being successful in their continued action and investment in areas like research and development, or creating proprietary tools, unlike organizations who may halt movement or wait to make a move until markets stabilize.
“Businesses today are faced with many challenges and must stay focused and agile in order to sustain and drive growth. They need to demonstrate resilience and commitment to their people, their purpose and their competitive position in the Canadian business world and this year’s Best Managed winners are doing just that,” said Peter Brown, Partner, a partner at Deloitte Private and co-leader, Canada’s Best Managed Companies program, in the release.
“These companies can celebrate their accomplishments today, and should be excited for tomorrow.”
In addition to the 26 winners for 2020, Deloitte recognized former award recipients who have re-applied and retained their Best Managed designation for two more years.
More than 100 companies were named Gold Standard Winners, which refers to those who have maintained their Best Managed status for three consecutive years and successfully retained their award for four-to-six years straight.
That list includes New Brunswick and Nova Scotia companies like Source Atlantic and Armco Capital, among others.
Deloitte also highlighted Platinum Club Members, which include nearly 200 winners who have maintained their Best Managed status for seven years or more.
The New Brunswick and Nova Scotia companies in that list include Acadian Seaplants, Armour Transportation Systems, Cooke Aquaculture, Steele Auto Group, Day & Ross, Maritime Travel, and McCain Foods, among others.
The winners will be honoured at a gala in Toronto on April 1.
